The aim of this Care Certificate Standard 5 – Work in a Person-centred Way online course is to acquire the skills, knowledge, and behaviours necessary to deliver self-centred care.

In this course, you will look at the values that shape how we think and react. Values are beliefs and ideas about how people should behave which have been formed by our childhoods, families, backgrounds, cultures, religions, education and relationships. We have our values, and there are particular values that are essential for working in health and social care. These values are known as the 6Cs.

This course introduces values in health and social care and how these can help you to work in a person-centred way. It helps to promote identity, dignity, self-esteem and future well-being, as well as how to utilise the care plan depending on the varying needs of every individual for better support and management.

The Care Certificate Standard 5 – Work in a Person-centred Way was developed for new healthcare and social care staff as part of their workplace induction.

The primary audience of the Care Certificate is Healthcare Support Workers or Adult Social Care Workers. It is also suitable for existing health and social care staff who do not hold recognised qualifications.

Clinical support roles

The Care Certificate Standard 5 is suitable for those giving support to clinical roles in the NHS and other healthcare settings where there is any direct contact with patients, including:
